Speed-Mentoring for Entrepreneurs Age 50 and Older

SCORE Miami Dade Counselors Provide Free Business Counseling at SBA/AARP Event

Who: SCORE Miami Dade Certified Business Mentors, with SBA and AARP partners

What: Counselors from Miami SCORE will provide free business counseling for participants, who will also be able to sign up to receive ongoing free mentoring.

When: April 24, 2018, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Why: April is National Mentor Month and SCORE Miami Dade is joins with the SBA South Florida District and AARP to give free business counseling to entrepreneurs over age 50.

With one in four individuals ages 44 to 70 interested in becoming entrepreneurs, and 63 percent of Americans planning to work during retirement, small business ownership is on the rise. Small business owners, working with  SCORE counselors see bigger sales, hire more workers and have more longevity. SCORE provides training and mentoring services older entrepreneurs need to start and grow businesses and create jobs.

SCORE Miami Dade is part of a national nonprofit organization that offers free guidance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. SCORE’s counselors can help throughout the life of an entrepreneur’s business. SCORE also offers low cost workshops to help business owners expand their skills.

Editor’s Note: In the current economy, this is a great opportunity to get photos of and interviews with people starting business and considering their future in light of job-loss, early retirement and other life challenges and also to speak the counselors that help potential and new business entrepreneurs.
